IBM Tivoli Storage Manager 5.5 Implementation and Administration
This is the first of two 5-day instructor-led courses for implementing and administering Tivoli Storage Manager. This course provides hands-on practice in implementing and administering a data management strategy with IBM Tivoli Storage Manager 5.5. The course begins with installing the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager 5.5 server and backup-archive client, and the Integrated Solution Console Administration Center. Students create and configure hierarchies of storage pools and define policies to manage the flow of data from disk to disk or tape media.
The back up and restore of client data, as well as performing long-term and offsite data management through archiving and retrieving of client data, is discussed and practiced. Finally, students will protect their IBM Tivoli Storage Manager server by automating the backup and restore of the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager databases and storage pools from offsite data storage pools.
The Student Exercises are available for Windows 2003, Linux, and AIX. The lecture material covers all supported Intel and UNIX platforms.
This course should be followed by IBM Tivoli Storage Manager 5.5 Advanced Administration, Performance Tuning and Problem Determination.

IBM Tivoli Storage Manager 5.5 Operations
In this instructor-led training course, you will learn to perform the day-to-day functions and tasks that are required for operating and maintaining IBM Tivoli Storage Manager 5.5. These tasks include managing storage pool volumes, preparing removable media, creating reports, monitoring TSM events, and protecting the TSM database, recovery log, and client data. You will learn how to create automated schedules that can be customized to maintain your organization’s Tivoli Storage Manager environment. This course is delivered through lectures and lab exercises.
IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Extended Edition 5.5 Disaster Recovery
With the ever increasing reliance on business-critical data, companies are taking steps to not only back up their data, but to ensure it's recoverability in the event of disaster. This three-day course on Disaster Recovery Manager (DRM), a feature of IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Extended Edition, will teach TSM admnistrators how to create and use the Disaster Recovery Plan file to help them recover their TSM server and their client data after a disaster or outage. The hands-on labs include exercises on how to back up the necessary server files, the TSM database, and storage pools for off-site storage. Students will then create a customized Disaster Recovery Plan file which they will then use as they restore their IBM Tivoli Storage Manager server and client data, at the client level and at the storage pool level. Students will also use server-to-server communications to back up the Disaster Recovery Plan file to remote virtual volumes for off-site electronic vaulting and learn the essentials of Disaster Recovery media management. Lecture will also cover the possibilities available for Bare Machine Recovery.
IBM Tivoli Storage Resource Manager 1.3 Implementation
The purpose of this 2 day hands on, instructor-led training is to show and explain how the features and functions of IBM Tivoli Storage Resource Manager can be used to administer and manage an organization’s storage resources and help meet its Storage Resource Management needs.
